Local families are being invited to ‘stop streaming and start steaming’ this month, as the award-winning Great Central Railway celebrates being named ‘Best Day Out in Leicestershire’ with a 50% ticket offer exclusively for local residents.

To mark the win at the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards, the Great Central Railway is giving families a reason to ditch their devices, get out, explore and spend quality time together, with half-price tickets for residents living in LE postcodes across Valentine’s weekend, Saturday 14^th and Sunday 15^th February as well as Thursday 19^th February during the half term holiday.

With tickets reduced to just £12 per person, and Kids for a Quid tickets available too, the offer makes it easier than ever for local families to enjoy a full day out on the UK’s only double-track, main line heritage railway.

Visitors can enjoy unlimited travel on heritage steam and diesel trains, explore beautifully restored stations, travel on historic locomotives, and discover what goes on behind the scenes of a living, working heritage railway. From footplate visits and access to the locomotive shed to refreshments, there’s something to entertain all ages – without a smart phone or tablet in sight.

The LOCAL50 discount code can be used when booking tickets for 14^th, 15^th and 19^th February, with visitors simply asked to bring proof of their LE postcode on the day.
