Nominations have been launched (today) by Voluntary Action LeicesterShire for a special awards ceremony that will celebrate the ‘real world heroes of the pandemic’ in Leicestershire and Rutland.
The 2022 VAL Awards – whose headline sponsor is Morningside Pharmaceuticals – are a chance for the public to nominate and celebrate the amazing people, groups and organisations that make up the voluntary and charity sector in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland – and help shine a spotlight on their amazing and inspiring contributions, especially over the pandemic.
The Awards, which first launched in 2019, were forced to postpone over the Covid-19 crisis and will, for the first time, be opening up for nominations in Rutland, too.
Kevin Allen-Khimani, Executive Manager – Public Sector Contracts and Projects at VAL, commented: “We’re really excited to announce the launch of the new-look 2022 VAL Awards. The past two years has seen unprecedented pressure and stresses on our charity and voluntary sector here in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
“We want to hear from the public and encourage them to nominate the ‘real world’ heroes of the pandemic – the people, organisations and businesses that went above and beyond to help those more vulnerable in our society.”
Dr Nik Kotecha OBE, Morningside’s Chief Executive, adds: “Morningside Pharmaceuticals are incredibly proud to be headline sponsors of the VAL Awards once more. It’s fantastic to see that the voluntary sector is continuing to be championed across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
“The past couple of years have been incredibly tough and I know that there are some unsung heroes who battled through the pandemic and provided unwavering support to those who needed it the most. Personally, I am very much looking forward to celebrating the achievements of these organisations, groups and individuals at the awards and giving them the praise they very much deserve.”
The ticketed event is planned for September 16th will take place in the Grand Hall at Leicester’s The Mercure Grand Hotel. The awards are made possible by the generous support of local businesses which include headline sponsor, Morningside Pharmaceuticals, alongside BHIB, Hastings Direct, East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, Mortgage Advice Bureau, Everything Global, Paragon Sales Solutions and Fraser Urquhart Media. At the time of issue, selected category sponsorships are still available. Monies raised allow the event to run without charge to nominees.
