FU Media delivers 1 billion reach in 2023

The biggest successes that drove us to deliver over 1 billion in reach for our clients last year.

After totting up our 2023 figures across our clients, FU Media hit a huge milestone of 1 billion total reach. That means across all the coverage that we secured in 2023 alone, a potential of 1 billion people could view it. One thousand million…

Considering we generally operate in the midlands, that’s a serious amount of success. It’s equivalent to 1/8th of the world’s population, or two billion eyes and ears. It’s enough grains of sand to fill your kitchen, and enough years to go back to before the first animals on Earth.

There are 67 million people in the UK, which means if you live on the British Isles, chances are you read, watched or listened to a story that came from us in the last 12 months. If you live in the midlands, unless your home is under a rock, it’s pretty much guaranteed.

But what drove that success? Here’s just a few of our highlights from 2023:

Birmingham Bulls Union Cup

Our work with the Birmingham Bulls in spring was a fantastic first for us. We loved selling the story this unique tournament far and wide, supporting the LGBTQ+ community in such an engaging way. We were overwhelmed with the interest from press, generating coverage with over 420 million reach.

With LGBTQ+ inclusive clubs coming from around the globe to compete right in the heart of Birmingham, we drummed up international coverage of the fantastic showcase of the sport's inclusivity and progressive attitudes.

Hope Against Cancer Trail of Hope

Working with charities such as Hope Against Cancer is a strong specialism for the FU Team. It's rewarding work and we love to share the positive stories of organisations who are making a real difference locally in Leicester and beyond.

Last summer, we worked from the ground up to engage local businesses to take part in the Trail of Hope, committing to host events and activities to fundraise for the cause. We enthused press to cover the weekend-long event and generated over 3 million in local reach, which propelled the project firmly into the public eye.

Leicester Restaurant Week 2023

As autumn rolled around, FU once again worked alongside BID Leicester and Arch Creative to celebrate Leicester's restaurant and bar scene during October's Leicester Restaurant Week. It was brilliant to help inject some real excitement and positivity to showcase an incredible sector that is facing tough challenges at the moment.

With over 40 restaurants taking part and a massive 146 pieces of coverage generated locally from reviewers, influencers and press, the week was a roaring success. We can't wait to go bigger and better yet again in 2024.

Grounded Kitchen Solihull

You might say that restaurant launches are right at the centre of our wheelhouse. In November, we used all our experience to pull out the stops for Grounded Kitchen Solihull, arranging local marketing, press and radio interviews, and getting the launch news in all the local press and beyond. The launch party was a huge success, complete with DJ, 360 booth and goody bags. The more than 13 million reach generated was a phenomenal result for a local opening, and the food was delicious too!
