East Midlands Women's Awards Nominations To Open With Two New Categories

Updated: Jan 22, 2020

Nominations for this year’s East Midlands Women’s Awards (EMWA) open on Friday 1st March 2019 with two new categories to celebrate female contribution in the region.

The East Midlands Women’s Awards (EMWA) recognizes and celebrates women from all sectors, backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and age, making it the region’s most inclusive event. Furthermore, it acknowledges the impact of women in society – from grass-roots levels to the top of the academic or corporate world.

Two new award categories have been introduced for 2019 which will celebrate the contribution of women working in the Education and Care Services sectors.

“We tend to take for granted the aptitude towards caring for others that is expected of women in our communities and in business. So much of this work is done to an outstanding standard and we at EMWA want to continue our work of highlighting and celebrating women in these areas as well,” said Sandra Pollock, Founder of the East Midlands Women’s Awards.

EMWA is now in its third year with 2018 seeing a 30% increase in nominations and a 63% increase in attendance, making the awards celebration at St Martins House a sold-out event. Nottingham is the city of choice for this year’s event and the prestigious gala presentation will take place on Friday 11 October 2019 at Colwick Hall, Colwick Park, Racecourse Road, Nottingham NG2 4BH. Tickets cost £45 per person, which includes a 3-course meal and table wine. Money will be raised on the night for two charities which are yet to be announced. Tickets can be purchased via Eventbrite or from the EMWA website.

This year’s Headline Sponsor for 2019 had been announced as Glynis Wright & Co Family Solicitors. Owner Glynis Wright was winner of the East Midlands Inspirational Female Leader 2017.

Nominations will close on Saturday 14th September 2019. Judging Panel will be announced in the coming weeks.
