FU Loves Leicester #1
Updated: Apr 2
Wow, how did we get here? The Fraser Urquhart Team have been home based for a few weeks now and we hope you’re all coping well with self-isolation; together we will get through this. It’s for this reason, and for the fact that we’re such Chatty Cathys, that we have created this new newsletter.
We’ve pulled it together so that we can all keep talking, helping and advising each other through the minefield we now call everyday living. Content has been supplied from key local businesses people, all experts within their fields and it’s been designed to be useful for your business, your family and your own health and mental health.
You may have noticed our new hashtag #FUfighters. It sums up our approach to all the craziness right now: we’re determined to fight for your business and ours. The only way to do this is to keep talking; in this instance silence is not golden!
We’re planning on sending out the update twice weekly –we hope you find it useful.
TODAY’S OBLIGATORY BAD JOKE…
“I bought a ceiling fan the other day. Complete waste of money.
He just stands there applauding and saying "Ooh, I love how smooth it is."

They have collated the following questions that will be on all employers minds over the coming weeks to help you navigate furloughing employees.
WHAT’S YOUR FLAVA LIVE COOKING LESSONS FROM THE SPICE GUY
Sandie Vara has been a friend of FU for nearly twenty years. He’s not only one of the nicest men around – unusual for chefs hehe – but hugely talented in the kitchen and passionate about spices and making food taste beautiful. We’ll vouch for that. Join him live every evening as he cooks up a storm from his kitchen, providing hints and tips on how to cook confidently and how everyday provisions can make the perfect meal.
You can find him on Facebook as The Spice Guy and his cookery demos happen as The Spice Club.

Bakers Waste are offering a safe solution for all those working at home to maintain waste document confidentiality. For £10 plus cost of postage, they will provide a confidential waste sack which, once filled, will be collected, shredded and a note of confirmation given.
If this is a service you require please send through your contact name, number & delivery / collection address to firstname.lastname@example.org
USE ZOOM TO ZUMBA AND DANCE YOUR CARES AWAY
Just because we’re all on lock-down and gyms are a thing of the past, doesn’t mean we should stop exercising. If you’re missing your Zumba fix or just looking for a way to release those exercise endorphyns, Zumba instructor Laura Ross is providing online Zumba classes via Zoom, so you can still see your teacher and friends, but in a way that’s safe right now. All you need is a mobile device (iPad, tablet or phone) or laptop, a decent broadband connection and some space. It’s open to anyone over 14 years but Laura is planning some family Zumba soon – watch this space.
To get involved, simply join Laura’s group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/ZumbawithLaura111/ Each session costs £4, payable by PayPal or bank transfer.
LEICESTERSHIRE LOOKS FOR VOLUNTEERS
Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, Leicester City Council and Leicestershire County Council have launched an initiative to build an army of volunteers to support people throughout Leicester and Leicestershire.
Looking to match help wanted with help needed – both on a local community level and alongside partners to help coordinate the effort – the initiative has already received a staggering response: over 700 applications offering help in a matter of hours with an aim to boost figures further in to the thousands.

HAVE A TWI-NIGHT IN FOR LOROS
Never ones to give up in the face of a challenge, local hospice LOROS will be swapping their annual big night out for a big night in as they bring the electric atmosphere of the Twilight Walk, LIVE, to your living rooms, via Facebook.
On Saturday 18th April at 7pm, they’re asking you to pull off those bobbly joggers, get your glad rags on, and get moving! They’ll be breaking up the quarantine boredom with a night full of ‘Through The Decades’ entertainment as we all ‘virtually’ come together to complete 10,000 steps around the house.
Dunelm have donated some amazing prizes including hundreds of pounds worth of vouchers for best dressed, top fundraiser and a treat or two for those of you who dare to dance!
Donations for LOROS Hospice are now more vital than ever. The Twilight Walk is their biggest event of the year and the money it raises is an essential source of income for the Hospice. That’s why they’re asking those of you who weren’t already signed up for the Twilight Walk to make a small donation, tune in from your living rooms and get together for a night to remember.
For those of you already signed up: thank you! Please keep challenging yourselves to build your sponsorship - after all, a 10,000-step challenge in the living room is no easy feat!
For further details, or to register your interest and make a donation, visit www.loros.co.uk/twilight

TIME TO GET DONE WHAT YOU ALWAYS PUT OFF- MAKING A WILL
It’s one of those things we all put off doing but making a will is arguably one of the most important things you can do for your family - without one, your assets will be distributed on your death as designated by the law (intestacy). It’s unlikely that this will reflect your wishes and can cause unnecessary distress and inheritance tax being payable unnecessarily.
Intestacy, for example, does not confer any rights for cohabitees, step-children, friends or charities. The Will and Probate team at Shakespeare Martineau have some timely advice for those who’ve yet to put their wishes into writing here.
WHICH NETFLIX SHOWS LEAD TO THE MOST CHILLS?
So we’re all box set binging at the moment but what are the shows streaming that are most likely to get the bedroom steaming?
With a baby boom predicted in the next nine months onlinecasinos.co.uk have analysed Netflix data to see which shows are most likely to lead to the most chill!
Based on weighted metrics of IMDB rating, IMDB sexual guidance rating, runtime and age rating, Shameless US takes the top spot as the show most likely to get you lucky. With multiple sex scenes and seductive characters its no wonder the US remake of the English sitcom gets hearts racing and blood rushing. Other shows sure to succeed include Orange is the New Black, Sense8 (that hot tub scene, Oh My!) the hilarious Sex Education and The BodyGuard. We’ll stick with Schitt’s Creek.
